Hi, welcome back to the room 4 blog. Sorry for not entering in the blog for so many weeks. We have been forgeting to do it because of all the hard work we are doing in fabulous room 4 (all thanks to our teacher)
This week school has been cancelled on monday and tuesday due to the snow. For safty reasons the school was closed on tuesday as well. A teacher came and inspected it. Some snow is still left over so please be extra careful on the roads.
Cross Country
This Friday we were supposed to have the schools cross country but due to heavey snow, railfall and svere cold snaps the event will be postponed to next friday (26th). It will be held at the school, in the afternoon, just after lunch time.
Please make sure your child(ren) have a nutritious lunch, a water bottle for after the races, and trackpants for after the race to keep warm.
The catagories for this event are:

Year eight girls.
Theme:
This term our theme is IMPACT.
We are studying about how our actions impact the earth we live on, and how we can reduce the amount of energy and non-renewable resources.
So far we have been given homework to help us reduce the amount of energy we use.
We have also been watching some planet man ;)

Forensics And Photos! Yay What We All Love! :D
This term we are doing Forensics and, since we are back from camp we are going to go full steam ahead into it... soon

After Camp (Week 6)
Hello again.
Last week Room 4 went to Berwick Forest Lodge. As our outdoor camp...
We all had a great time, especially with the assault course and the activity day.
Search and Rescue was awesome on many accounts.
When we got back we were dead tired, brusied and battered.

Before Camp
Hello again and welcome to room 4's fantastic blog.
Today(Wednesday)we are going to be doing FIRST AID all day. This will preparations for camp next week. Pictures will be uploaded eventually.
Tomorrow(Thursday)room 4 will be going to museum.
Next week we have are Bewick camp. This week we have been preparing for camp. This includes our secret friends.

Camp Business
Hello and welcome to week 3 of term 2, well halfway through week 3.
Last week we made some play dough, it was for our procedural writing.
We are going to camp in exactly 12 days -Monday the 30th- at Berwick camp. You will all have been given a gear list, please look over it carefully as you will need to have ALL the things on the list. They are just so essential.
We will be doing a lot of preparation for camp over the next next including:
First aid on Wednesday next week.
Safety action plans.
We will also be going to the museum next Thursday.
We are having a ball at Berwick so we have been doing social dancing, in preparation for it. We have been learning the waltz, The all American promenade and a unknown new one.

Back Again
Hi and welcome back to the Room 4 blog for term 2. This term we will be doing science fair, camp, wonderment and forensics.
This term for our Maths Extensioners we have Jason.S, Michael.S and our new addition (get it,addition) Brenda Garcia Paez.
Today (May 2) we did a basic facts test for Mega Maths Month. We will be doing several more.
There was an information page about Mega Maths Month that went home on monday, it should tell you all you need to know.

Week 10
Sorry for the neglection but we have simply forgotten to do the blog for four weeks.
On Tuesday the twelfth Rm 4 and Rm 13 will be going to the Movies! We are going to see a movie about the rocky seashore called "Ocean".We are still are deciding wether to let people buy food a.k.a Popcorn, fizz and chocolate.
Throughout the last week we have had a fundraiser which was selling an entertainment book with great 50% off,25% off and great 2-for-1 deals at most of the leading buisnesses.
On the first of April Rm4 whipped Rm23 22-0 to win the notorious NODDY CUP. After them stealing it a year ago Noddy now sits proudly on top of the intercom again.

Week 6
Hello all! We hope you had some fun in the sun as we enter our autumn season!
Firstly we haven't had a post in a few weeks now, so lets start off!
Phew! The swimming is all over and done with now, and we are getting towards our swimming sports at Moana pool on Friday the 11th.
All students will need to be at the Pool at 8.45am
Canteen will be closed that day
Competitive Racing:
25m, 50m Freestyle
25m, 50m Backstroke
On Monday the 14th Room4 are going to the Aquarium for our theme topic of
"The Rockey Sea Shore" The Trip will cost $10.00 per student.
We will be dissecting a shark. We would love parents to come a long and provide transport.
On the 15th, 16th and 17th of March we will be having Parent-Teacher Interviews. Please look out for a notice coming soon.
The Year 8's are practicing their Sasa at the moment and Room 4 have yet to decide what to do ours on.

Week 4
We had our second swimming lesson last Thursday and we are doing well! Don't forget your togs this Thursday as well :P
Also last week we had the school Powhiri, and it was a great success! The year sevens were definitely intimidated by the loud and proud Haka performed by the year eights.
This Wednesday is our visit to the art gallery. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to supervise us that day.

Meet the teacher and camp meeting
I am looking forward to meeting all of the parents of Room 4! Remember it starts in the hall at 6.30 where you will listen to Mr Hunter and then you will head to Room 4 to meet me. After that we will go back to the hall and discuss the infamous "Berwick Camp". Ours is in Term 2, Week 4 - 30th May - 3rd June.

Homework Expectations
It's week 2 already and you have homework!!
Homework is usually set on Monday and due on the Friday. Each week four students will be chosen to read the newspaper and find a current event. The current event has to be school based, local, national or international. See if you can find something about survival!
Task 1: Spelling tested and signed twice
Task 2: Basic facts sheet (Task 2 is extra for experts)
Task 3: Write sentences using your spelling words
Current Events : Georgia, Amy and the Jason's :)

Second Week
The first day of week two and we have already been at our first technology sessions!
These include:
Fabrics
Art
Cooking
And Hard Materials.
At Fabrics we are doing tie dying and construction, we will be tie dying a t-shirt or a tie dying a peice of fabric to then enter our construction, we will make a bag or anything we want (within reason)out of our tie dyed material.
At Art we are screen printing t-shirts. We are doing a kiwi/New Zealand theme.
At cooking we made fruit kebabs, it included nectarine, grapes, apple & pineapple
At hard material we are making clocks out of wood, in any shape or size we can make

First Week
Phew! The first week back at school, and everyone seems to have settled back in nicely!
Some things that have already been handed out are as follows:
Swimming notices: the first lesson starts on thursday the 10th.
The cybersafe notice: whether or not your child is permitted to be shown in such things as the newspaper or Red Top TV.
A big well done to Hadley who earned the first certificate for leadership
